A Good News Update!

Hello There Caring People of the World,

I wrote a story about three months ago, at the end of my rope, exhausted by the pain, reaching out for help. Your voices were salve for my soul. Thank you.

An update

I just wanted to share my current story, in case it helps someone on this site. To give a little background, I have had debilitating migraines for the last 20 years, feeling hopeless, sometimes suicidal... usually depressed. Gluten-free, sugar-free, dairy-free, vegetarianism... you name it... I have tried it. I do best in a very low gluten diet though, and no processed sugars... I have tried so many medications, too many to list - but the usual array of tryptophans, muscle relaxers etc.

Trying out a new treatment

I am writing because I found a neurologist in August who prescribed me Nurtec. Anyone tried it too? I am always weary of new to the market meds... but I was on the verge of losing my career, and my relationships have suffered from all the cancellations and missed out days on vacation...

I have to say... Nurtec Amazes me. I have very little side effects (a little bit of drowsiness at the onset, but then it goes away) but it is nothing compared to what I have endured with the tryptophans and muscle relaxers...

Finally pain-free

Within a 1/2 hour my migraine is gone. Gone!! Completely. Somedays I am still in somewhat denial of if I have a migraine. Sometimes, like today, it just feels like a mild headache, which made sense because I fasted for a day (yesterday) which personally works for my body type and keeping my high cholesterol in check (I fast 2 days a week). So all day today I endured this low-grade headache, until I realized, yes, yes, this is in fact a low-grade migraine... take the medication! I did and am writing this pain-free.

Sharing my experience with others

I just wanted to share this in case it helps someone else. I have taken Nurtec maybe a total of 15 times in the last two months, and I can truly say, it has worked every time. I truly hope this is a safe medication (it just hit the market last February) and that it helps others like it is helping me.

They have a free program right now through the company in case your insurance won't cover it. I am nervous about that going away because my insurance won't cover it. But, right now, at this moment... it is the only thing that has helped make my migraine disappear. I am so so so grateful. So I just had to share my experience.

Feel free to reach out to me

A follow-up.. because my last post was really dire... but even though I feel like a living commercial... I have to say it... I feel like I have totally gotten my life back! Please private message (PM) me if you have any questions... I just became aware of the PM part of this forum.

In much much caring,
Kj
