Reed Migraine: Inventors of the Omega & Reed Procedures

I am an 18 year old college student. My migraine story began at the age of 13. In my two years of suffering from migraines, I experienced gallbladder surgery, sinus surgery, diagnosis of gastroperesis, functional dyspepsia, and dysautonomia syndrome, along with the diagnosis of NDPH (New Daily Persistent Headaches) and migraines, numerous kinds of injections, multiple IV treatment plans, countless medications and doctor visits, physical therapy, and Chiari 1.5 Malformation brain surgery. It was a struggle. There were definitely times when I had no hope and didn’t ever think that I would get my life back. My family was always there for me and my church and friends were supportive, but nobody really knew and understood what I was going through.

I had no life with my headaches. I was always either in the bed or on the couch or in the hospital or traveling to go to doctor appointments. I had to do online schooling for my first semester of sophomore year of high school. The doctors would use up their resources and then send me on my way to another doctor. Finally my pediatric headache specialist in Dallas referred me to Reed Migraine Center. In February of 2015, Dr. Will put in the trial neurostimulator. I was immediately headache free! In the same month, he inserted the permanent device.

Yes, I was scared out of my mind. I was only 15 years old. The idea of a foreign object being inserted into my body was not something a child wishes for. However, the thought and the hope of being pain-free after two years outweighed any doubts and worries. When you get to the point where I was, you're willing to try anything. My life isn't perfect now. I still have minor issues I have to deal with from all the trauma my body has gone through; however, I do have my life back because of this procedure. I don’t regret the decision I made for one second. God has used my experience to mold me into the person I am today. I'm a more understanding and compassionate person, I strive to see the joy in every situation, I have the longing to help others like me, and I have the knowledge that there is no situation that I cannot overcome with the help and support of my family, friends, church, and the Lord.
So please, if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask! I know I'm on the younger side, but my heart goes out to you and your situation. If you're hesitant and refuse to try this procedure out, please, please reconsider. If you would've told me three or four years ago that I would be a full-time college student going into the medical field and telling others of my success story, I would've laughed in your face. So please don’t give up! It could literally change your life, or more specifically, bring your life back...
