Migraines and different auras

  • By CurtisC

I am 33 years old and have been having migraines since about the age of 12. These have always began with a 30 minute aura of blurryness and tunnel vision, and then nausea, headache and sometimes vomiting follow. I have gotten used to living with these roughly every month but the headaches last two days every time now.

Over the last 10 years I have had several other episodes that begin with intense and vivid dejavus which usually last a couple minutes. I am usually confused and anxious when they happen and can’t remember any of the déjavus after. The rest of the day I feel drained mentally. The last time this happened was four months ago. I don’t recall headaches after, so I am concerned they aren’t migraine related.

Does anyone else experience both of these auras at different times and have linked both to migraines? Waiting to get in with my doc to sort it out.

    Thanks

    HI CurtisC,

Thank you for your question and being part of the Migraine.com discussion forum. We’re glad you’re here. I am sorry that it’s taken me so long to get back to you.

Our migraine patterns and triggers can change over time. It is important to discuss changes in patterns and/or symptoms with the doctor so he can rule out anything more serious.

It’s possible these symptoms can be migraine related, but only a qualified doctor can determine that. You may be interested in reading about AIWS or Alice in Wonderland syndrome in this article; https://migraine.com/blog/alice-wonderland-syndrome/.

    Take good care,
