Anyone tried estrogen for menstrual migraines?

Hi everybody, I have pinpointed my migraines start right after ovulation when estrogen falls sharply and progesterone rises. Any info on hormone therapy ? I don't want to go on birth control as that actually seemed to make them worse , I would like to supplement estrogen or progesterone in my lutheal phase, anyone has heard of it?...

  1. Thank you for reaching out and sharing your input with us, we're glad you're here! You're not alone in this as it's not uncommon for migraine to be triggered by fluctuating hormones. I'm not well versed on this, I can tell you some women who deal with hormonally related migraine attacks seem to find Frova, a long acting triptan to be beneficial. I can share that information with you here; https://migraine.com/blog/short-term-option-for-migraine-prevention-frova/. It's taken a few days before and during menses and may be a good conversation to have with the doctor. I hope you let me know your thoughts while we wait for other to share their experiences with you. Wishing you a low pain day, Nancy Harris Bonk, Patient Leader/Moderator Migraine.com Team
