From migraines to vertigo

Has anyone experienced those symptoms I feel like my head is swimming and feels disconnected I feel dizzy lightheaded I can't drive. Thankfully I can now walk across the street to get mail. Balance is still now an issue and my ears hurt. I have started using a mouth guard could be I am pressing down too hard during the night grinding or something but honestly my migraines pain has gotten better but now I have something else pressure in my head but I'm on a different muscle relaxer which is quite different than the other harder stuff the neurologist was giving me. I don't know if the Botox is causing the Vertigo but years ago I read that Botox injections can cause Vertigo I'm just waiting for this to subside at some point in time now would be fine for me I was almost giving up hope. I was able to get to a second opinion appointment neurology appointment last week on a dead battery just praying to God that I would be able to get home and back and I was able to get home okay my car barely turned over when I started it but it started miracle of all miracles. Praise to the Lord !!!! It barely started when I got out of my appointment but I got home okay !!!!! Got a new battery the next day and it tested as poorly I already knew that LOL On the second test that I needed a new battery. Well from the second neurologist I was able to get my CT scan I was begging for and a referral to a headache specialist which I didn't know existed. Once again thank you God for getting me there !!!!!
Thank you too whoever is reading this story as I feel alone in in my 3rd month journey of migraines to date without any relief little by little but it's coming did I mention the nausea associated with this vertigo or I don't know what to call it exactly ????? Tata

  1. Do you feel like the room is spinning? I have had a light-headed, "on a boat" feeling on and off for two months now, but no room spinning feeling. This is in addition to random pains in the head and face and tingling. It comes and goes throughout the day. Some days are better than others. Neuro thinks my migraines have changed from episodic to chronic. I'd like to try one of those "cocktails" of abortive meds to see if I can beat it. The fear of it being a more serious issue leads to anxiety, which just snowballs downhill from there. Can't tell what is migraine and what is anxiety.

    1. It can be hard to parse apart one condition from another. And anxiety is a well-known comorbid condition to migraine. I'm glad it sounds like you are working with a neurologist and hope you stay in touch with that person as it's always important to report new and concerning symptoms. Is your neuro a migraine specialist? I ask because migraine specialists have more training to evaluate and treat migraine. If you'd like I can send you some referrals. When you say you feel like you're on a boat- do you have nausea? Or an unsteady feeling that you are in motion when you're not? We are here for you and appreciate your sharing. 2. - You are not alone. We are here for you and what you describe - dealing with both vertigo and migraine is something we hear about often. Vertigo often accompanies the condition itself - so I wonder if that's the case as opposed to it being caused by the botox? Glad you are getting things checked out with these evaluations you are seeking and hope you find some answers. I'm glad to hear your migraine pain is down - however, migraines are a complex neurological condition with numerous symptoms (including vertigo) so it's possible that the med you are taking is helping to address the pain part of migraine, but other symptoms (like vertigo) are coming to the forefront in place of that pain. I was going to ask if your neuro was a migraine specialist. It can sometimes really help to work with a specialist as they are trained specifically in migraine. Please let us know the outcome of your tests. Here's a link to our resources on vertigo and migraine: https://migraine.com/search?s=vertigo. So glad you're with us. Warmly- Holly -migraine.com team
