Headache and eye pain daily

Hello,

I have been getting headaches and eye discomfort everyday for nearly 2 months. It is localized in my eyebrows (mostly in the center near nose) and pain in what feels like my eyelids. For the most part I feel fine and I am able to workout and tend to my daily activities.

Out of concern, I went to the ER and they preformed a CT scan of my brain and thank goodness they found nothing serious. They told me to see a neurologist and to take Advil 3 times per day which hasnt helped at all. I need to wait 4 weeks to see the neuroligist but i am feeling more and more anxious with each passing day because i have no clue what the source of these headaches are...

I am starting a new job in less than 2 weeks and desperatley need some help to figure out whats going on.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

D.

  1. Hi Darren717,

Thank you for sharing your journey with us. I am sorry to hear you've been in pain for so long, but happy to hear you had it checked out.

Congratulations on your new job - that's very exciting. Try not to let anxiety get the best of you, four weeks will fly by! In the meantime we have lots of information here that may be helpful.

Some of the symptoms you described can be part of a migraine attack, but only a qualified doctor can tell you exactly what's going on after you've had an exam and the doctor goes over your symptoms and medical history. Once that is done he should be able to give you a diagnosis and treatment plan. You may want to watch this video from contributor Lisa Benson as she discusses her diagnosis story; https://migraine.com/video/my-diagnosis-story/.

Having a clear CT scan is great news as most of us with migraine do. One problem getting an accurate diagnosis is there is no blood test, scan or xray that can confirm or deny migraine disease. This is one of the reasons it may take some time for an accurate diagnosis.

Is there any family history of migraine attacks? Sometimes people called these "sick" headaches, or sinus headache, but in reality they were migraine.

You may want to keep track of what's going on during the next four weeks so you can share it with the doctor. Keeping a detailed migraine diary can help you figure out what your triggers are and any patterns these attacks have. Also mark down pain free days a well. Here is information on how to keep a migraine diary:

I hope this helps. Please keep me posted on how you are doing,
    Nancy

    1. Do you notice anything that causes the pain to get better or worse? Does it start at a certain time of day? Start after certain activities? You mention eyelid pain. Certainly head pain can happen in places around your face or skull that may not necessarily correspond with an "activity." That said, have you noticed any sensitivity to light or pain/eyestrain with reading or using screens (TV, phone, computer)?
