How many people have ice pick headaches? How long do they last and what works for you?

Peggy (Migraine.com team)My dad had a few episodes of ice pick headaches when he was in his mid-late 80’s. The first time we went to E.R. And had a cat scan. The next 2 episodes we didn’t do anything because the pain was very brief (although quite severe and sudden). You were so right to take your Dad in that first time he experienced it. We always encourage folks to seek medical treatment/evaluation if they are feeling something that is new/different. So sorry that he experienced multiple episodes- it can be a shocking kind of pain, for sure. Thanks so much for sharing with us. Warmly, Holly (migraine.com team).
