Increased Migraines After Botox – Seeking Advice and Alternatives for Pain Relief

Has anyone had a similar experience after their first round of Botox? Did a second treatment eventually help reduce the frequency of attacks? I’m trying to weigh my options and would appreciate any insight from those who have been through this.

Additionally, I'm exploring other pain management options. I’ve heard of Arthrogenix as a potential treatment for inflammation and joint pain. Has anyone here used it? I’m particularly interested in reading Arthrogenix reviews to see if it might help with my overall pain management while I deal with these migraines.

  1. Hi - this is a good question to explore. Thanks for posting your thoughts and concerns. On our site, there have been many who have had experiences with Botox injections. Here's a link to several. I hope this information is useful. I've only had one Botox injection but didn't move forward with them. https://migraine.com/search?s=botox Per the second question, I haven't used Arthrogenix but find that because I use many medications to control my few chronic illnesses, migraine included, herbs are not considered bc they can react and/or reduce or increase the affectability of these drugs. I surely would keep my doctor in the loop should you decide to try it. Hoping others in the community leave their experiences. Thoughtfully, Rebecca (team member)

    1. Hi
Thank you for sharing your concerns about Botox. I'm curious how your doctor explained Botox to you? Did they mention It can take three, four sometimes more rounds of Botox before we notice reduction in attack frequency and severity. During this time it can also help our acute migraine medications work better, it has for me. Botox works to prevent attacks (its not a cure, there isn't one for migraine currently) and can take a while before we see a lot of benefit. It's similar when we start any new medications and/or supplements. It can take up to 90 days (at the therapeutic dose) before we see improvement.
As said, it's always a good idea to let the doctor know any supplements, devices, etc. we are taking to make sure they don't interact with other conditions and/or medicatons.
I look forward to hearing more from you, Nancy Harris Bonk, Patient Leader/Moderator (team member)
