Migraine Auras

Is there a natural way to avoid these?

Will I have them my entire life?

Age 65.

  1. Welcome to the migraine.com community! We are glad you're here. Many of us have an aura as part of our migraine cycles. Auras come in many forms, including visual, sensory, auditory, and olfactory. What type of aura do you experience during a migraine cycle? There are natural ways to manage a migraine attack, but since they differ so much between people, it can take some time to see what will help your body navigate an attack. Please tell us a little more about what you are experiencing as that makes the feedback from others more targeted towards supporting you. Warmly, Cheryl migraine.com team

    1. Great question!! In addition to the information gave you, I'll add some of my thoughts.
Here's the thing - migraine is a neurological disease, falling on a spectrum from mild to severely debilitating. It ca impact our entire body. If we have three or more severe attacks a month it's time to discuss migraine prevention with the doctor and here's why. Episodic migraine (14 or fewer migraine/headache days a month) can transform into chronic migraine (15 or more migraine/headache days a month) fairly quickly. No one wants to be chronic!
Having said that, there are over 100 medications, supplements, devices, complementary therapies and lifestyle modifications that can be used to manage migraine and most of us are on a combination of them - I sure am! Let me share our information on some options with you here; https://migraine.com/complimentary-and-alternative-therapies.
Let me know what you think and I hope today is a low pain day, Nancy Harris Bonk, Patient Leader/Moderator Migraine.com Team
