Migraine, seizures and little blackouts

Has anyone else experienced all three by chance? I have Epilpesy on top of the migraines. Now I'm experiencing tiny blackouts and panic attacks to boot. I'm really scared and feeling very very lost. I've now been shifted to a epilepsy specialist. I thought the one I was already seeing was but I guess not. I'm really fed up with being switched from one Dr to another. I'm a smoker and if I have a cig lit and don't know I e dropped it till I get burned or I can smell it. There might be a chance I can go to Texas at the Reed Procedure Center and have surgery. But between seizures acting up along with migraines and blackouts I need some thought on this if you have any. Thank you in advance.

  1. Sounds like you've definitely got a complicated combination of symptoms going on there. I can imagine it would be frustrated to feel passed around from doctor to doctor as you seek answers. We can't provide medical advice here however, would encourage you to continue seeking answers from specialists who have adequate training for your case. To that end, have you consulted with a migraine specialist yet? These doctors are trained in the complex neurological condition that is migraine. Here is a link to migraine specialists across the US in case you might find one in your area: https://migraine.com/blog/the-mrf-directory-of-headache-and-migraine-specialists
Additionally, you may consider seeking an evaluation at an in-patient migraine clinic such as MHNI https://migraine.com/forums/michigan-head-pain-and-neurological-institute-chelsea-inpatient-program or Jefferson Headache Center https://migraine.com/blog/headache-camp. These are weeks long in patient programs that offer in-depth evaluations to help patients with more complex cases sort out effective treatment programs.
Hope this might assist you as you continue seeking answers to these incredibly important questions. We are here for you and in this with you as you go along in this journey. Warmly, Holly (migraine.com team)

    1. That does sound scary. I'm so glad you reached out to us. <3 From what I can see, there are plenty of people that have migraine and epilepsy, so you aren't alone there. Here is a resource from the Epilepsy Foundation that, while a little heavy on the jargon, could be helpful to you:

The blackouts are an issue to bring up with your doctor, as Holly mentioned. As for panic attacks, it is completely understandable that you'd be feeling so afraid. They can be so hard to shake -- I know that firsthand. Are you open to seeing a counselor? There are so many great tools and coping strategies that therapy can give you, and it feels so good to talk with someone who will support you no matter what. My heart goes out to you and I hope you can find the solutions you need. You know we're here! -Melissa, migraine.com team
