Migraine and Barometric Pressure Change

Hello,
I have found that my biggest trigger is barometric pressure changes. When the temperature drops an average of 20 degrees or more in the same day I am set off. Symptoms include nausea and vertigo and can last weeks or months if I don't get it under control. My doc has me on Depakote to try to break the cycle. Has anyone else experienced this and what do you do both preventatively and when it gets bad to deal with it.
Thanks for any help!

  1. Hi
    Thank you for reaching out and sharing your experiences with us. You're not alone in having changes in the barometric pressure trigger nasty migraine attacks. We've heard from many who experience this same thing, myself included. I tend to get a migraine attack after the weather front passes through. Let me share a few of our resources on this topic while we wait for others to join the conversation.

    I've also found WeatherX ear plugs to be beneficial. They have app that can alert us to changes in the pressure so we can prepare as much as possible for upcoming shifts. Here is their website;

    I hope this information is beneficial and I look forward to hearing more from you, Low pain wishes heading your way, Nancy Harris Bonk, Patient Leader/Moderator (team member)
