My neurologist says Migraine is a spectrum brain disease. Do you agree it's like epilepsy in nature?

  1. Hi
Thank you for sharing this with us. Yes, migraine is thought to be a neurological disease falling on a spectrum from mild to severely debilitating. Like other chronic disease it's something we manage as we don't have a cure at the moment.
How are you doing today? Do you experience migraine attacks frequently? Please know we're here for you!
I'm sending out pain free wishes to you, Nancy Harris Bonk, Patient Leader/Moderator (Team Member)

    1. Hi,
I agree that migraine is a neurological disease with varying degrees of severity. I have suffered from chronic migraine for approximately 45 years. The severity of my disease progressed to the degree that Social Security determined me to be disabled. I am now 67 years old, and I am still getting severe migraines. I am still considered a chronic migraineur because I meet the frequency qualifications of attacks. I have tried just about every new treatment. However, my best solution is to maintain my symptoms. I wish those who suffer like me from migraines the best!

      1. yes. It is definitely a neurological disease. This link shares some statistics about migraine disease and states that it is a neurological disease: https://migraine.com/migraine-statistics. I know some people may not be aware of that fact, but, hopefully as time goes on and more research is done, many more will know this also.
While I hate that your migraines were terrible and affected your work, I am glad you did get disability for them. So many have a hard time getting approved.
I hope you are doing well. Thank you for adding to the conversation!! (Tonya, team member).
