Tingling and numbness after migraines

I've had migraines since I was 13/14 as far as I remember. Very painful but it was just the pain. I'm 44 now and a month ago experienced an episode of hemiplegic migraine. But after the pain was gone I was ok. In the last week I have had 2 more migraines, not hemiplegic, but after the pain was gone I was stuck with this tingling/electricity sensation all over my body for days. Is this normal? How can I get rid of the tingling?

  1. Hi nmn1973,

Thank you for your question. I'm sorry you've seen a change in your migraine attack patterns. When this happens, which is not uncommon, it's always a good idea to contact the doctor and let him know. This way he can rule out anything more serious.

Numbness and tingling can be part of migraine with aura. These symptoms usually dissipate when the migraine attack is over. If they persist, please contact your doctor.

Hemiplegic migraine is a rare form of migraine disease. One of the hallmark symptoms is true motor weakness. Let me share information with you on migraine with aura and hemiplegic migraine; https://migraine.com/migraine-aura/other-migraine-aura-symptoms/ and https://migraine.com/migraine-types/hemiplegic-migraine/.

    I hope that helps!
