Weird Tastes Prodrome?

Hi I'm new, I've had chronic (daily) migraines for 2 years now but only just made it onto the forums as I've begun get control back.

I can identify some of my symptoms as they are often talked about but one I get confused/worried about now thanks to covid is taste.

Sometimes everything just tastes like soap? is this migraines or do i have to worry about long covid now too?

Thanks in advance.

  1. I'm sorry you are suffering from migraines. They can be so disruptive and life-altering. Migraine can affect your taste, but it usually resolves with the attack ending. Many experience a metallic taste in their mouths. Our family had Covid back in July and one of the things we noticed was a loss of taste and smell for quite a long period. It was very odd. Things just didn't smell right and we could only really taste very sweet and salty. It took weeks before our taste started to return to normal and my husband still has not regained his normal taste sensations. It's all very frustrating. I encourage you to hang in there as things will improve with time I'm sure and if they don't you can always touch base with your doctor and see what they have to say. 1. My taste buds are totally screwed up during migraines. I am a small person (size 4) and I swear if my migraines ever stop, I will (happily) wear a size 12! Ice cream is sometimes the only thing I can eat.

      1. Do you attribute this to only being able to eat specific foods because of nausea or due to loss of taste? I find I'm drawn to sweets and comfort foods when battling an attack. Does this resonate? https://migraine.com/living-migraine/foods-gravitate-towards
