Worried about my symptoms

This is my first post here, hello fellow migraine sufferers.

I have struggled with migraines over the past few years, however over the past 3 months or so they have become constant. This has had a huge impact on my day to day life and my relationships. I manage my migraines with painkillers, I was prescribed a migraine preventative, it did not work. The following new symptoms are making me worried that there is something different going on or I have something more seriously wrong in my head, any advice would be great.

Migraines - 3 years
Constant migraines - 3 months
Migraine with aura ( flashing light ) - 3 months
Pulsating Tinnitus with migraine - 2 weeks
Dizziness and extreme fatigue - 2 weeks.

If anyone can give me any advice as to whether these new symptoms are normal to experience with migraine that may put my mind at rest because I don't want to google anymore as the words that come up with a migraine and pulsating tinnitus search are tumours and anyreasms ( sorry for spelling there )

Thank you.

  1. Hi xxsammiejoxx,

Thank you for sharing your story with us and being part of our discussion forum, we're glad you're here!

I'm sorry you are having a rough time; being in chronic pain is exhausting. When we have new and/or different symptoms or our migraine attack patterns change, it's always a good idea to let the doctor know. Self diagnosis can be dangerous. Have you had a chance to reach out to your doctor? If not, I would encourage you to do so soon.

Now having said that, it's not uncommon for our symptoms and patterns to change over time. Something important to keep in mind is that it can take up to 90 days to see a reduction in our migraine frequency and severity when we start new medications. Also during this time potential side effects may lessen as our body adjusts to the new medication. I understand how hard it is to be patient, but the thing is if we don't give each medication a fair trial we'll never know which one would have been "the one" to work. Does that make sense?

I hope this is helpful, let me know what the doctor says.
    Nancy
