Aimovig and Coumadin effect on INR?

Hi, good morning. I’m wondering if anyone out there is, or has taken Aimovig for their migraines & takes Coumadin? If so, what was the effect on their INR (blood thinning), & did it help the migraines? My new neurologist has suggested I try this, but I hesitate because I’m already on a large dose of Coumadin (10mg 6 days a week, 12.5 mg 1 day a week) which keeps me in therapeutic range only if I’m extremely careful about barely ingesting ANY vitamin K, salads, broccoli, etc.

My concern is that, if the Aimovig drops the INR, I’ll have to increase the Coumadin dosage, thereby increasing the risk of possible bleeding from that drug. I feel like I’m walking a tightrope as it is. I know, everything is a risk, but, when I called the Amovig company, there hadn’t been no studies done in this specific regard, so no one knows. Btw, I’m taking the Coumadin (& Plavix) due to repeated DVTs (Deep Vein Thrombosis = blood clots), 8 so far, since 1998. Thanks in advance for any information.

There sure has been much discussion & questions surrounding this treatment. As you wait for others to possibly chime in to share their experience, I wanted to also share with you a forum page we have dedicated to Aimovig & those that have tried it or too have questions surrounding it. – https://migraine.com/forum/cgrps-calcitonin-gene-related-peptide/ Hope this helps. -Best, Joanna (Migraine.com Team)
