Who else suffers from menstrual migraines?

I started having migraines when I was thirteen and started my period. I get them other times too but always with my period. I get one right before I start and usually slammed at the end. I’m 42 and I have noticed some changes in my cycle and increase in severity of my migraines. I’m questioning peri menopause? Can anyone relate? What did you do? I have tripitans and they are and aren’t working.

  1. Hey, I too face such problem, it is very difficult to cope up with migraine.

    1. Hi epa3030,

Thank you for your question. I know many women can relate to this frustrating situation.

Fluctuating hormones can play an unwanted role in our migraine frequency and severity. Frova, a triptan has been shown to be particularly helpful for menstrual migraine. When you get a minute take a look at this article; https://migraine.com/blog/short-term-option-for-migraine-prevention-frova/.

I hope this helps, let me know what you think,
      Nancy

      1. I too have menstraul migraines and have tried everything. I recently tried Frova and it didn’t work. I’m still having the worst headache ever!!! There’s this new injection that will be my last attempt at trying to treat my headaches.

        1. Stop! I know what you're going thru. I had enough of injections and pills. Give this one last try ... look up in your area for a Chinese acupuncture. Start the treatment. You'll feel relieve from the first treatment itself. I have tried everything. Although I am not completely healed but there's never a day that I suffer the migraine attack anymore

      2. Honesty here unfortunately! 56 yrs old here, been getting since about 10 yrs old, told myself all those years that they would get better after menopause; they are now worse and so often unbearable. I firmly believe that I am up there with the top 10 worse cases. Does anyone else feel this way?
