Anyone have luck treating New Daily Persistent Headache with break through migraines?

Has anyone here had any luck with treating New Daily Persistent Headache with break through migraines?

Have a Neurostimulator with leads in forehead then pain moved to back of the head. Had tried numerous medicines, IV infusions, botox injections and everything else we could think of.

  1. Hi cam321,

Great question! Thank you for reaching out to us. It's not uncommon to have more than one type of migraine and/or headache disorder. New Daily Persistent Headache, NDPH, can be tough to treat and may make. It's not uncommon to use the same medications for NDPH and migraine. Here is an article about NDPH I hope is helpful; https://migraine.com/blog/new-daily-persistent-headache/.

Have you been able to identify any of your migraine triggers? If we can figure out what they are and avoid the ones we can, we may be able to reduce our migraine attack frequency and severity. The best way to do this is to keep a detailed migraine diary for a few months. Let me share information with you on this; https://migraine.com/blog/keeping-migraine-diary-basics/.

Try not to get discouraged, there are over 100 medications and supplements that can be used to treat migraine disease. This article details more about these medications; https://migraine.com/blog/migraine-preventives-start/.

Hopefully others will be along soon to share their NDPH journey with you.

    Nancy
