Dating a girl I love very much who suffers from migraines

My girlfriend suffers from chronic migraines 3 to 4 times a week sometimes. I can't remember the medications she is on. I know when she gets her migraines she is done for the day or even two. I know she was on topomax but the side effects were too much for her. She was getting botoxshots once every 3 months , but I don't know what happened to that. I bought her the cefely device but it doesn't seem to be working either. I don't want to overwhelm her with my intervening and help because I know she is already in pain and has that to deal with. It is so very hard for me to understand since I don't get them and it breaks my heart and is so frustrating I can't help her with her pain. Is there anyone that can point me in a direction towards getting her healthy and active. I hate this for her and I feel helpless. Please any help will be gratefull.

  1. Hi larryh55,

Thank you for reaching to us! Your girlfriend is lucky to have you!

I know it's hard to see our loved ones in pain and we all want out loved ones to be healthy and happy. Sometimes just being there is all the help we can offer. You may want to gently suggest she could come here to Migraine.com and do a bit of reading on migraine disease and headache disorders. It's important to learn all we can about our particular type of migraine or headache disorder as this will help us get the correct treatment.

Let me know what you think and we can go from there!
    Nancy
