Is Tramadol effective in Prodrome stage to stop migraine.

I have been really understanding symptoms and signals, pre pain stage. Right now I'm non stop yawning, with watery eyes and extremely tired, a bit irritable.
I know tramadol is for pain relief, but does anybody take it early on, to prevent a migraine from coming on?

  1. Hi thedreambox,

Great question - thank you for reaching out to us. Tramadol, is used for pain relief, it does not stop the migraine process. Triptans, ergotamines and DHE all are used to stop the migraine process. This article has more information on medications that stop and prevent migraine attacks: https://migraine.com/migraine-treatment/.

    I hope that helps!

    1. Thank you Nancy. I've been on topamax andit's ineffective. My Dr prescribes tramadol and oxycodone. He said he will start me on a migraine prevente r this week. I am allergic toSumiptriptan, so he mentioned a medic starting with a as or cc sound, but not sandomigran.

      1. Good to hear you'll be seeing your doctor this week. I did want to mention that sumatriptan does not prevent migraine attacks, rather stops the migraine process.

Please let me know how you make out!
