Light Sensitivity and FL-41

Does anyone know what the specific difference between the indoor and outdoor variety of the FL-41 glasses are?

  1. I have copied the text from Axon's site concerning the difference between the lenses. The outdoor lenses are basically slightly darker than the indoor ones.

"Lenses: Axon offers two different tint densities for you to choose from: Indoor, which is lighter; and Outdoor, which is darker. See pictures of the different tints by clicking here (opens new window). Transitions lenses® have our indoor tint when inside a building or car, but turn dark when in the sun. Our Polarized lenses are Extra Dark because they use our outdoor tint with polarization – they appear dark grey. Polarized Lenses are available by special order only.

    1. Ah, right. Thanks for that.
      Another question, then:
Has anyone gone from normal polarized sunglasses to these and found an improvement? I've been wearing the darkest sunglasses I can find for about eleven months, but if these are better, plus less tinted, that feels very much win-win.

      1. Precision tints, established through colorimetry are the only I know of that have been shown to actually scientifically help patients. Here is a link to a discussion in relation to another condition - but it is very relevant to migraine

        1. I have a pair of TheraSpecs FL-41 sunglasses that have my trifocal RX in them. I don't wear them all the time as I usually just use the polarized clipons that go with my regular glasses. But I do wear them when I know I'm going to be in a situation where glare, one of my major triggers, is going to be a problem. Yesterday I had a 40 mile drive along a highway with a lot of glare. I wore the TheraSpecs for the drive and my head was fine. I still saw a bit of glare, but it didn't seem to trigger a headache. I probably should use them more often, as this has been a particularly bad month.
