Noise cancelling headphones

I have severe sound sensitivity with my chronic (daily) migraines and I work in a laboratory with a lot of general background noise. I was wondering if anyone has tried noise cancelling headphones with their sound sensitivity? Do they help? Debating about whether or not to invest in a quality pair.

Thanks!

  1. I also have severe chronic sound sensitivity. For me, sound cancelling headphones didn't help. I still heard all the sounds I wanted to cancel out. What worked (for awhile, then it did't) was getting soft earplugs thatgo into the ear canal (the strongest strength available) and wearing those all day. I still use those like if a neighbor is mowing their lawn or playing music or if I need to operate my non-electric sewing machine.
