Throbbing pain and dizziness

I'm a 30 year old male and I've been experiencing a migraine migraine unlike any other I've had before. It's been going on for the past five days and the symptoms are a throbbing pain at the left back of my skull and the inability to stand or sit upright without dizziness and nausea, and my left ear feels stopped up. I've been to the ER twice to no avail, although they performed a CT scan on my first visit.. Imitrex, which normally knocks my migraine out has so far only offered temporary relief. Has anyone here experienced anything similar?

  1. Hi OrangeHaggis,

I'm sorry you are having such a difficult time right now. Good job heading to the ER, and great news about the clear CT, but I'm sorry you haven't had any real relief yet. Please contact your doctor asap; it's always a good idea to talk to the doctor when we have new and/or different symptoms so he can rule out anything serious.

Having said that, migraine pain that lasts longer than 72 hours can increase our risk for a condition called status migrainous and stroke. Let me share that information with you; https://migraine.com/blog/what-is-status-migrainosus/.

Please keep us posted on how you are feeling,
    Nancy
