botox-forehead or neck

Does it matter where I get my Botox shots, in my forehead or the back of my neck/lats?

  1. It is important to consider where the Botox will be delivered based on the needs of your condition and the desired outcomes of treatment. Botox is used for many things. Your doctor will advise you on where they will administer the injections. A good question to ask your doctor is how many injections they have done and what their specialty is for these types of injections. You want a trained and qualified doctor to do the injections to minimize potential side effects. Let us know how you are doing after the injections. Warmly, Cheryl migraine.com team

    1. Great question! There is a specific migraine protocol experts follow. Here is a video of it; https://migraine.com/video/video-of-botox-injections.
I can tell you many experts may add various spots, just like Cheryl mentioned.
Where are you getting yours and are you finding it beneficial? Wishing you a low pain day, Nancy Harris Bonk, Patient Leader/Moderator Migraine.com Team

      2. I'm good. The beginning of fall was stressful but things are better now. Everyone is going crazy because of our Phillies making the World Series. The whole area is buzzing. It's an exciting time. 😀

    2. It can take more than 6 months to see my migraine doc so I used a pain specialist who does Botox injections for migraines all the time. He gave me shots in my neck and lats. Just saw my migraine doc's phys asst

      1. (somehow part of my reply disappeared. ) My migraines doc's phys asst said they had to be on my head. Known the pain doc for years. He gives Botox shot for migraines all the time. Does it matter?

        1. Different doctors, nurse practitioners and physicians assistance will answer this question differently depending on their training. There is a general protocol for migraine, but some people stray from that and do injections where the patient has more complaints. Also, many people who have migraine also have neck issues, so will receive injections from the forehead, into the scalp, down the neck and into the shoulders. I've had botox for over 20 years for migraine and recorded this video about what I've learned along the way: https://migraine.com/video/20-years-of-botox. Let us know if you have additional questions. Glad you're with us! Warmly- Holly -migraine.com team.
