Memory

May I ask a question? Does anyone experience difficulty remembering certain categories of words? When I have a migraine, or one is just starting I can’t remember nouns, or rather it takes longer to find the right noun.

  1. Hi Philoctetes,

    Thank you for your question. Trouble finding words, difficulty with concentration, and memory issues can all occur during a migraine attack. Aphasia is described as the inability to find and/or comprehend words. I'm not sure if you recall the reporter Serene Branson, who had a migraine attack live on air. She had an awful time finding and using words. We have more information on this here; https://migraine.com/blog/complex-migraine-is-the-verdict-for-reporter-serene-branson/.

    We have a few more articles on cognitive dysfunction during a migraine attack you can read about here;

      1. Yes, thank you. It’s a great help. I’m perplexed by the fact it’s only nouns.

        1. Me too! Our brains are amazing.
