Migraine aura status

Hi there I have recently been diagnosed with migraine aura status. It’s typically when you get migraine aura without headache but it happens for at least 3 days in a row, can possibly go on for weeks and you can have anywhere from one to many migraine auras without headache a day. If anyone has any info on this condition I would love to hear your experiences.
Thank you

  1. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. About 25-30% of people with migraine experience aura, which comes in many forms in addition to visual disturbances. Other aura symptoms may include numbness and tingling in our face and/or extremities, trouble with word finding, slurred speech, smelling odors that are there and more! While we wait for others to share their experiences with us, let me share a link with our information on migraine with aura: https://migraine.com/search?s=migraine%20with%20aura.

Getting a new diagnosis is not easy, but learning everything we can about it can go a long way in getting the proper treatment. Did the doctor suggest a treatment plan? There are over 100 medications, supplements, devices, complementary therapies and lifestyle modifications that can be used to treat migraine and most of us use a combination of them, I sure do.

Please keep us posted on how you are doing and I wish you a low pain day, Nancy Harris Bonk, Patient Leader/Moderator Migraine.com Team

    1. Migraine with aura was one of the most sudden and alarming experiences that I've ever faced. It came out of nowhere! Heck, I thought I was having a stroke! Aura usually, for me, appears when I stare into a light, or move my head too fast. As soon as it happens, I take my prescribed naproxen sodium and try to nap. I can usually fall asleep before the brunt of the head throbbing. By the time the aura disappears beyond my peripheral, it's pain time. I get them pretty rarely, and have only gone through one without head pain. Luckily that was the only time I've had one while out and about! They're super annoying, but now that I have a decent rhythm going, they're much more manageable. How have you been feeling recently? I hope auras haven't been giving you a problem as of late. Sending positive vibes your way. Know you aren't alone in this! ~ Sawyer (team member)
