I get them twice a week on average. Last night woke up at 2am to the worst migraine. Took a sumatriptan then when back to bed. 20 mins later until midday was being sick every 30mins. Temp going hot and cold. Didn’t ear until 6pm. I feel now I am at the point I can no longer cope. These migraines are taking over my life and my families life.

    Hi MikeS,

Migraine disease can be debilitating, frustrating and exhausting – I’m sorry you are going through this. You’re not alone in feeling this way, migraine disease can leave us feeling isolated and alone. Let me see what information I can give you that may be helpful.

If you haven’t been to see a doctor who is an expert in treating migraine and headache disease, I would encourage you to try and see one. True migraine experts are board certified in headache medicine, which is different than being certified in neurology. The thing is neurologists have a hard time being experts in one area because they treat so many different disorders such as multiple sclerosis, stroke, Parkinson’s, epilepsy and others. When you get a chance take a look at these articles that detail how these doctors are different and how to find one; https://migraine.com/living-migraine/a-new-perspective-on-migraine-specialists/ and https://migraine.com/blog/seeing-a-board-certified-headache-specialist/ and
    https://migraine.com/q-and-a/finding-specialist/.
I’m currently seeing my 5th true migraine expert and am finally getting somewhere.

Having a good support network is important when living with chronic illness. I see my counselor about once a month or so and she helps me keep things in perspective.

I’m going to stop now, so I don’t overwhelm you. Let me know what you think of this information and we can go from there!

Wishing you a low pain day,
    Nancy
