Journal Prompt: "What if I didn't have migraine..."

We’ve all had those wild, migraine-free daydreams. If a time machine (or a miracle cure) appeared today, what is the first thing you would do with your reclaimed life? What would you give up to be migraine-free?

  1. Visit my mom. Visit my grandkids. Go out to eat. Go to the beach. Go to a music venue. Literally make a plan to do anything without fear, anxiety or panic or the impending cancellation. Be a part of life instead of existing while everyone else is living.

    1. Such a valid point and one I've heard many here share. Making plans can feel almost impossible given the unpredictability that can come from living with migraine. Your comment reminded me of this article by one of our writers here: https://migraine.com/living-migraine/unpredictable-attacks-cancel-plans. It can be so incredibly frustrating, disappointing, and isolating to feel like you're just watching everyone else live life while you are just hoping for a day of relief or like you said, just "existing." Those things you mentioned like visiting family or going out, have you been able to do any of those in the past? - Jake (Team Member)

  2. Go back in time and take my kids to the park and run and play with them. See what kind of active lifestyle I'd have if I wasn't so worried about crashing and burning after over-exerting myself.

I'd give up my voice to a sea-witch-octopus to live a migraine-free life.

  3. Have my live back. I am Tired of the all the medications, having no life due to the pain.
I live in the dark .

    1. My chronic migraines have prevented me from visiting my Sister who only lives couple hours away!

  4. I would go out in the sun and maybe even go down to the barn and spend some time with some horses. I've had a 10 day migraine streek of migraine at a level 10.

    1. That sounds so peaceful. I've heard time spent with horses can be quite therapeutic. Is this something you used to do more often? Sounds like you're really going through it right now with a long streak of contact migraine...I hope you are able to find at least some slight relief soon. Keep us updated as you're able. - Jake (Team Member)
