Migraines and Menopause

Anyone else gone through or going through perimenopause/menopause as a migraine sufferer? What things did you find in terms of medications/treatment for either that worked vs. making the other worse? What other things have you noticed?

This is very new to me. Migraines for years, but only recently started perimenopause. Just started hormone replacement therapy this week.

  1. I want to note for thoroughness that it is a little bit extra complicated for me because I had a hysterectomy 6 years ago and only have one ovary left. So I don't have periods and have a fairly irregular hormone cycle. So it is a little tough for me to even tell, but I did have it confirmed by a doctor that my hormone levels have significantly dropped and just started hormone therapy.

  2. Hi, Ruth! First of all, good luck on your menopause journey -- I hope your symptoms aren't too bad and you can get through it easily. It sounds like you've already been through a lot with the hysterectomy. I'm glad you had the option of using HRT. I'd love it if you check back at some point and let us know how it's going!

We have quite a few articles about menopause, and lots of people have shared their experiences in the past.
