Ray Li's Status Updates

  1. "I'm back baby, just like Futurama. December saw me hospitalized due to the most agonizing and debilitating migraine of my life caused most likely by a viral infection and dehydration. Still recovering. Post about it to come soon. "

    1. , so great to have you back from the brink 😉 We look forward to hearing how you navigated your experience. Rest up for now. We'll be waiting 😀 Warmly, Cheryl migraine.com team

    2. Oh boy, I'm sorry you dealt with such an awful migraine and viral infection. Good to have you back!! Hoping today is a low pain one, Nancy Harris Bonk, Patient Leader/Moderator Migraine.com Team

    3. @RayLi - welcome back. So glad to have you return after such an awful bout with migraine and sickness. It must have been a rough period for you. How are you feeling now as the New Year starts? Rebecca (comm advc)

    4. Thank you, I hope so too

    5. Thank you. Still dealing with a lot of fatigue, more than what's normal for me

    6. Oh gosh, Ray, that sounds miserable. So many of us were sick in December. I hope you've at least seen some improvement since then. Sending you hugs ... take it day to day! -Melissa, migraine.com team

    7. Yes I am slowly recovering. I hope to get the post up soon, now that my cognitive ability has improved.

    8. Oh my gosh, this sounds like the absolute worst combo one ask for. I hope you've been feeling way better as of late!!! Sending positive vibes your way Ray Li!! Wishing you a gentle and symptom-free day! ~ Sawyer (migraine.com team)

    9. Almost back to my normal, emphasis on my, as what I experience isn't what the average healthy "normal" person experiences.

Thank you for the response back.

    10. , 'Normal' is definitely subjective! I'm happy to hear you feel more like you are accustomed to. I know what Tom and I experienced as normal is more like a distant memory, lol. Our new 'normal' is different, but it works for us 😀. Has your fatigue calmed down? I understand how difficult it is to go through life with constant fatigue dragging you down. Hopefully, the warmer weather will give your spirit a lift. We are already flirting with the 90s! I'm very glad you're here. Warmly, Cheryl migraine.com team

    11. Yes, the fatigue is calming down a bit more. I don't feel so out of it & like I am always struggling to string thoughts together coherently.

Wow, I can't stand 90F weather. In 2021, we were around those temperatures cause the heat dome was on its way. Usually we are around 71.6F in April. I have been googling temperature info because I don't remember the math for going from Celsius to Fahrenheit or vice versa.

    12. , I'm glad your fatigue is calming down. It can be so terrible. I can't remember the calculations for the temperatures either, lol. I ask Alexa! Take care, my friend. Warmly, Cheryl migraine.com team

  2. "Loving my new shower bar! "my shower bar

    1. Wow, it looks great! I hope that it's a big help now that you have it 😀. - Cody (Team Member)

    2. Yes it's been helpful several times now & not just getting out of the sjower. There has been a couple times where I have used it after standing up off the toilet & my balance goes wonky or my feet are super asleep.

    3. Thanks so much for sharing this solution with us! I'm glad you've done so for all of us as - atop physical disabilities that are hard enough to manage - it's a great affirmation in showing how comprehensively that migraine can impact anyone neurologically. I know that sometimes there are days that go by that I cannot shower because I'm too weak to do so. I'm grateful you shared this here. Warmly- Holly -migraine.com team.

    4. I bought a shower stool for when I am too tired to stand but still need to shower

    5. This looks so helpful! Love it 🙌 ~ Sawyer (migraine.com team)

  3. "Getting a disability bar added into the bathroom today! Not sure what kind yet, I will be brought a couple options. "

    1. , that's always a good idea. A well-placed grab bar is great for any unsteadiness or weakness issues. If you have the room, I would even consider getting a shower bench. After my stroke, we used one that was like a plastic stack chair, and that helped a lot. Warmly, Cheryl migraine.com team

    2. Ooh fun! I have a lifelong mobility issue, so I love bars. It was wonderful having them in my last apartment, and then installing them in my new home last year. 😀 Reach out if you have any questions. It might take a little trial and error. Home Depot and similar also have some good quality DIY options. -Melissa, migraine.com team

    3. Always best to get options and choose from the best! How is it coming along? Wishing you the best of luck! I hope they're installed asap ~ Sawyer (team member)

    4. I bought a shower stool last year that has a swivel & lock function. My tube is too small to make use of the swivel function but the next place we live in might have a normal size tub.

I was able to get a shower bar installed. I have to ask my GP about one by the toilet & rent it from a place cause the building owners won't install one.

    5. I tried a suction bar a couple of years ago but it came loose.

I am really happy with the shower bar but the building owners won't approve of one by the toilet. I have to ask my GP & rent one from a place. Annoying they allow a shower bar but not a toilet one

    6. Awesome. Love my new shower bar

    7. , I've seen some supports that fit on the toilet. It looks like armrests and it is movable so you can take it with you. Sometimes your DME items will be provided for you by insurance. Are you planning on moving soon?
      Warmly, Cheryl migraine.com team

    8. Yea I am not too sure what we will get yet. Red Cross rents them out for an affordable price. We have been stuck living here for 4yrs cause we can't afford to move anywhere else. Prices are ridiculous here.

    9. Oh yeah I would never use a suction bar, no matter how great they claimed to be. I just don't feel safe! The bars I got for my new house were from Home Depot and my husband drilled them into the walls. Glad you have a solid shower bar though, it makes all the difference. -Melissa, migraine.com team

  4. "7 day event Holter monitor test is going much better this time around. It's over on Friday. "

    1. Oh good! Will you keep us posted on the results? Hoping today is a low pain day, Nancy Harris Bonk, Patient Leader/Moderator Migraine.com Team

    2. Glad you took the step of re-doing this test. I remember this experience and the worst part I suffered through was the sticky pads and my skin. It wasn't a bad experience, but annoying as I have sensitivity to surgical tapes and glue. Wearing it, downloading the data, and dressing with it on wasn't too bothersome. Hope that the results are as expected and you begin to feel better sooner than later. Rebecca (comm advc)

    3. I bet you will sleep good tonight with no more monitoring and having all this behind you. Enjoy your weekend -- glad to hear things went better this time. 😀 -Melissa, migraine.com team

    4. Thanks Nancy. 4 days ago was a decent low pain day. I will definitely update everyone

    5. Looking forward to your update! Low pain days are to be cherised.

Nancy Harris Bonk, Patient Leader/Moderator Migraine.com Team.

    6. I didn't really have a choice when it came to redoing the test, it's desperately needed. Thankfully I don't have a problem with the adhesive, I had a problem with the weight. A 48hr Holter monitor test left me with welts. Thankfully the event monitor weighted less but I still had to move it every 36hrs.

    7. Yes I slept really well. The night before the test, I didn't sleep well, which was quite annoying. Yes I am glad to finally have this test done & am anxiously waiting to hear back from the cardiologist

    8. Indeed, they are to be cherished as they are rare for me
