First Migraine attack on Thanksgiving

My first migraine attack was Thanksgiving 2012 at 2:00 PM, right before dinner. Standing outside the kitchen at the back of the den watching football when an imposing heavy cloud filled my forehead with pressure and weight. It’s stayed since then in some form 24/7, except for two times for a few hours after general anesthesia.👍

  1. That sounds like a very vivid and memorable first migraine, . Did you know it was migraine when it happened? -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)

    1. I did not. It was very unsettling for the 3-4 months before being diagnosed. And for the next 9 years until it gradually stopped dominating my attention and search for cures. Knowing relief from whatever many drugs or treatments would just soon lead to a “bleed through” of previous symptoms quelled my search somewhat. The good news is knowing that it probably not getting worse and is more tolerable when it’s out of mind.👍
      Thanks

      1. I can imagine that it would be very unsettling before getting a diagnosis, . What a stressful 3-4 months that must've been for you. Not to mention the following nine years you mention while it dominating your time and energy. People don't always understand that migraine itself is exhausting (as talked about in this article https://migraine.com/migraine-symptoms/fatigue), but then to be devoting so much energy to trying to find a treatment can add extra to that exhaustion. I thought you might also appreciate this video about temporary migraine reprieve as you mention the ongoing search for relief, https://migraine.com/video/temporary-reprieve. Sending you gentle hugs. -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)
