Food/ drink intolerance.

Hi.
I was just wondering has anyone thought about/ had a food intolerance test as this can be a trigger if you're eating something that you're intolerant to but don't know it. I'm aware different foods affect people in different ways, but if anyone has found this is causing their migraines it might be beneficial to others if they'd share this, there may be a certain food/ drink( other than the common ones) that we can all identify with of which we find a trigger and could help others to maybe eliminate them just to see if that works for them.

  1. What a great question, ! I hope some of our community members with experience or information about food intolerance testing can share with you. We do have an article that mention food intolerance testing, https://migraine.com/blog/food-allergy-testing-for-triggers, and this one talks about food histamines, https://migraine.com/blog/the-migraine-food-trigger-youve-probably-never-heard-of.

I know that some doctors don't necessarily find food intolerance testing definitive, but there are some people who (anecdotally) have found it beneficial. I personally did a food intolerance test many years ago. It wasn't for migraine, so I can't speak to that specifically, but for me I did notice that some foods caused various symptoms that were better when I cut out the food.

Have you done any food intolerance testing?

    1. Great topic, ! Do you feel that your migraines are impacted by what you eat? Food is a contributing factor for many people in the community, though I'm not sure those foods would necessarily come up on an intolerance test. We do have several great articles about trying an elimination diet to see what foods might be triggering attacks, in addition to the article Christine sent you. I'll leave them here for anyone who might be reading along.

      1. Hi.
I haven't noticed any difference with previous intolerance tests, buy I've recently had another one and the migraines do seem a lot better . Hopefully it stays that way.
