Migraine that Won't Quit

What do you do when you have a migraine that just wont' quit?

I've had this one for 6 days now. Taken Nurtec every day. Got a nerve block on Friday. Taken lots of antihistimine. Tried a muscle relaxor a couple times. Nothing is working. I feel like i'm losing it. I had a virtual appointment with my neuro today and she had no suggestions. I can't afford an ER visit, and honestly last time I went to the ER they just gave me the same stuff I've already taken.

  1. So sorry to hear that you've been having a migraine for 6 days . From another person who lives with migraine, I know first-hand how brutally draining a migraine of this length can be.

From what I've learned, there are a variety of different approaches to helping reduce a migraine that won't stop. However, your neurologist communicating that she had "no suggestions" is concerning. I can only speak anecdotally in saying that I've heard people utilize steroid packs, injections containing a variety of medicines, including torodol and/or magnesium. However, this is all at the discretion of what physician is treating you and their judgement as to what is clinically indicated.

You can also find more information from people who were in similar situations here: https://migraine.com/living-migraine/stopping-attack-that-wont-end or https://migraine.com/living-migraine/how-do-you-break-wont-stop. Both cover a similar line of thought - what do we do when we're back up against the wall with a migraine that just won't end.

I hope it helps. - Cody (Team Member)

    1. We did a toridol injection. I can't do steroids due to a bad reaction.
