Visual symptoms (Aura)

Hi everyone. Can you suggest any treatment for visual symptoms? I can't afford to see a neurologist at the moment. Been suffering from migraines from 7th grade. At least the ones with visual symptoms.

I work in a factory and it's really affecting my work life.

Not prescription meds of course.

Thanks.

  1. Hi , I hope some of our community members can share some of their tips and tricks for over-the-counter symptom management, especially the visual auras. While I can't personally speak to the effectiveness, one of our health leaders wrote about using light-blocking glasses to help manage some of the visual symptoms, https://migraine.com/living-migraine/relief-light-sensitivity. There are a lot of great comments at the end of the article as well. I also wanted to share this editorial with you about visual auras, https://migraine.com/migraine-symptoms/visual-aura, it includes some information on treating these types of attacks. I hope that can give you a place to start while you wait to hear from community members and you can get some relief soon! -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)

  2. Hi, Lloyd. It's tough to say what might help, because migraine is primarily neurological, so you might not find relief by treating your eyes directly.

That said, there are some non-prescription possibilities you might look into. Here's an article about that:

I hope you find something that helps. Are you able to see your GP? -Melissa, team member
