"Today I am just getting by with the affects of a possible aura. Been diagnosed this year as having migraine with aura, after a trip to the ER by ambulance in May. I was treated like I was a stroke victim. So glad that wasn't the case. More than likely I was having hemiplegic migraine as the symptoms were so similar. Now I am taking a preventative and also a migraine abortive medication, there seems to be a light of glimmer at the end of the tunnel. Weekly attacks can be managed far better than I first thought. Sometimes I don't get the full attack and only experience the aura(s) This is who I am and migraine is just a small part of my life."
It can be so scary when migraine symptoms mimic stroke, Lervone45! I'm glad they were able to accurately diagnose you and start you on a treatment plan that is helping you manage your symptoms. Please keep us posted on how you are feeling! Wishing you a gentle day. ~Allyson (Migraine.com team)
"Today I am going for a check up with a new doctor I had to see last week due to having symptoms of post migraine the dreaded one of losing my vison in my left eye and having close to no feeling on my left side of my body losing the ability to walk and speech was also an issue. After the migraine ran it's course I developed a sudden pain in the left side of my jaw which left me in excruciating agony till I got to see the doctor the next day.I am now on a trial run of a new migraine preventer, which apparently my former doctor never put me on..(maybe because it's also a well known anti depressant) Anyway so far so good..keeping my finger crossed for a better outcome."
