BEEN THROUGH HELL AND BACK NUMEROUS TIMES

I've been on numerous medications and as soon as I start them within a few months after being on them they stop working. Currently, I'm on Nurtec 75mg, been on it going on three (I think) years, its stopped working been trying to go on something else but my state insurance is being difficult on what else I can go on, my neurologist had said we might be at the end of the rope of finding something else to go on because of the issue with my insurance. What else can I do? I'm always hydrated I've cut a lot of things out of my diet. Please help!

  1. Hi there - So sorry to hear that you and your doctor feel at the end of your rope with insurance denials. Here is an article that may help shed some light on potential action you can take: https://migraine.com/blog/youve-been-denied-what-can-you-do-now. While none of them are an "easy fix", it is still within the realm of possibility that you may be able to get another medication approved.

    1. i just dont get it cody, when i look up the insurance i have and the medication she wants to put me on, the insurance says it covers it but when trying to get it it gets denied... plus when i see her everytime its the same ol speil (however you spell it), she'll ask me how i am, i'll tell her i have same everyday ongoing migraine (which is now everyday for a year), she'll say keep on taking the Nurtec while we try to get something else, after i say ok, she'll say see you in 3-6 months... im sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo tempted (by advice of friends n other people saying to) to get a new neurologist... IM COMPLETELY GIVING UP

      1. I can absolutely understand your frustrations with this. It sounds like your insurance and/or neurologist are not being clear as to why a new medication is not being approved. There must be a reason that is not being accurately communicated.

If you have the bandwidth, it may pay off to consider a new neurologist like you said. While it may prove frustrating in the short term, it's clear from your post that your current neurologist may not be a good fit for you.

You deserve to work with someone who you feel has your best interest at heart, and will conduct your care in good faith. From the information that you've shared, it's difficult to see a path forward that will change how your visits are going with your neurologist. - Cody (Team Member)
